The Rising Arts Leaders San Diego Steering Committee is made up of volunteers with a passion for the arts and culture community. Our organization is a great stepping stone for career changes, to expand and build on skills, and be part of a strong network of arts leaders. Given the current environment, our work will be done online via Zoom and Slack but our steering committee members must be based in greater San Diego region. For these reasons, our ideal candidate is highly motivated, eager to learn, communicates well, can establish and meet goals and deadlines, and most of all, is a great collaborative team member. As a mover and shaker of this organization, we believe that you get what you put into the Committee.
Rising Arts Leaders is committed to advancing equitable access to professional development and leadership opportunities. We are committed to actionable diversity and inclusion within our organization. Furthermore, we acknowledge that the San Diego arts and culture community is diverse and underrepresented groups must be supported.
We provide equal opportunities to people of any race, ethnicity, cultural background, gender, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, marital status, geographic location, philosophy, educational attainment, religion, veteran status, citizenship status, and ability status.
A term is 2 years. Incoming Committee members will serve for 2021 and 2022, with the option to renew 2 more years (for a total of 4 years).
There is a minimum requirement of 15 hours per month – this will likely increase pending projects, events, and deadlines. This includes the monthly online meetings Committee members are required to attend, and up to 8 RALSD online programs per year. Benefits include professional development opportunities and being a leader in San Diego’s art community!
This year, Rising Arts Leaders San Diego is recruiting up to 8 energized, motivated, innovative, and dedicated early/mid-career arts and culture professionals, who are based in the greater San Diego region, to join our Steering Committee.
We are seeking dynamic team members who are interested in serving in a variety of roles, and holding responsibilities that support RAL initiatives in Membership development and engagement, Programming of workshops and special events, Advocacy and field-building on behalf of the San Diego arts and culture sector, and Community Support for local artists and arts administrators. Given the circumstances, RAL will continue to work online until it is safe to meet and host programs in person.
In an effort to build a truly collaborative Steering Committee, we are not seeking applications for specific sub-committee roles in 2021. Instead, candidates who are selected to serve on the 2021 Steering Committee will participate in an online on-boarding and orientation process at the beginning of the year, during which all new and returning Steering Committee members will contribute to goal setting and role assignments for the term.
