Heidy Flores is the singer/songwriter for the band Los Hollywood formed in 2008 along with Gustavo Mojica (drummer/songwriter) in San Diego, California.
What projects are you currently working on? I’m currently working with Los Hollywood on our new single and video called “Baila” coming out soon!
How has the pandemic affected or shifted your practice? This pandemic has affected Los Hollywood and me tremendously. We postponed our tour to Mexico City and our live shows. Due to COVID 19, we have lost the human connection that we had with our fans. Now our connections are through social media, by playing live on Facebook and posting our new songs on our Instagram. Our purpose is to bring a little bit of happiness and joy throughout these difficult times.
What has your journey been like as a creative/artist/small business owner? My journey has been quite a ride. First, I feel very fortunate to play with two amazing musicians, Gustavo Mojica, drummer/songwriter for Los Hollywood & Joe, our new guitarist! As the singer for Los Hollywood I’ve had the opportunity to open for a lot of great Rock en Español bands like Aterciopelados, La Ley, Jarabe de Palo, Enanitos Verdes, and many other great artists. For our second EP, we worked with Thom Russo (who has won 16 Grammys and has worked with Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, and Mańa.) It was a great experience to have him as our producer. I’m definitely excited and looking forward to working on new material with Los Hollywood.
Do you have any tips for up-and-coming, or rising artists/creatives? Although we’re all facing some difficult times, try to stay creative or maybe learn a new instrument. Always keep learning.
