Interview with Miguel Falcon 07/02/2020
Miguel (or Michael) Falcon, is the owner and operator of the art gallery Logan Ave. Galeria de Arte, located between Por Vida and Salud! on Barrio Logan’s famed Logan Ave. At his gallery, Miguel aims to promote local artists that specialize in Chicano Art.

What projects are you currently working on? The gallery space is under construction at the moment to better accommodate artists’ works. We are also excited to be including an ice cream shop in the space to be opening this fall.

How has this pandemic affected or shifted your practice? I will be following guidelines set by the city and county to make the space safely accessible. The challenge will be to design an art gallery that can be accessed while following social distancing rules.
What has your journey been like as an artist? I learned to oil paint many years ago from my father. Since that time I have taken up photography and I’m currently using digital media to create photographic art. These photos are used as advertising for the art gallery on Instagram

Do you have any tips for up-and-coming or rising artists? It’s ok to borrow ideas from others, but it is important to create your own style. Be bold, expressive, and convey your message. Make sure all who see your work stop in their tracks and try to figure it out.
