Virgil Yalong was a fearless arts advocate and champion of the arts in San Diego. He was a longtime RAL steering committee member and a teaching artist at ARTS (A Reason to Survive). A gifted educator, writer, and designer dedicated to supporting creative and vibrant communities, Virgil embodied so much of what it means to be a rising arts leader.
Virgil passed away in November, 2016 and to honor his memory and continue the legacy of our friend the Quick Grants program will be known in perpetuity as the Virgil Yalong Quick Grants.
Rising Arts Leaders of San Diego provides a limited number of competitive professional development grants of up to $1,000 each to San Diego emerging arts professionals and artists currently employed at or in partnership with a 501(c)3 nonprofit cultural organization.
Virgil Yalong Quick Grants may fund one of two types of learning activities: facilitated learning experiences or organizational leadership projects. For all the information about eligibility, application process and guidelines download the document below. Organizations are not limited in the number of applications/employees that may apply at one time, but please note that an organization is only eligible to receive a maximum grant of $1,000 in a given grant cycle.
